Age: Approx. 12 years
Color: White
Size: Approx. 6 lbs.
Status: ADOPTION PENDING
Good With Kids: Older Children
Good With Cats: Yes *** see note above
Good With Dogs: Yes

Rumor has it that Abigail was a model for the Far Side comic. We aren't sure about that, but we know she's a complete charmer--loving, amusing, and perky. Yes, she has it all...well, everything except teeth. Our senior lady lost them all so now her tongue often lolls out of her mouth. She just uses it as a great opportunity to generously give licks to everyone. Abigail is very much a sweet and affectionate dog that loves to be in a lap. This precious pooch follows you and gently places her paws on you for attention. She's housetrained but needs to go out more often as she has gotten older. Abigail is a quiet and tolerant girl who grooms well and enjoys car rides. She knows the commands of sit and come, and she's good on a leash. Her former owners took her to a county shelter after having her for three years because they are now expecting a baby. Because of her age and tiny size, we don't recommend her with young children or dogs larger than her size. Abigail is a wonderful sweetheart who is so easy to love. She's looking for a home that she can keep forever. Can it be with you? For more information about Abigail, please contact her foster at oatmeal2@msn.com.
To meet Abigail at an adoption event, please e-mail dogs@lostdogrescue.org or call (703)295-DOGS.

Carlos

Breed: Australian cattle dog mix
Sex: Male
Age: Approx. 2 years
Color: Brown and white
Size: Approx. 50 lbs.
Status: Available with foster
Good With Kids: Older Children
Good With Cats: No
Good With Dogs: Some

Finding a great buddy dog or family dog can be as easy as meeting Carlos. Our good-time boy is very affectionate and friendly, so everyone immediately likes him. Carlos learns very quickly because he's smart and eager to please. In fact, he's already housetrained, crate-trained, and pretty good on a leash. Carlos likes to have fun, too, and loves to play ball. He does have a funny walk that came about in a most unfunny way, though. Sometime in his past, he was shot with buckshot and his whole backend is still loaded with it. The buckshot apparently tore muscles that healed imperfectly and left him with one leg slightly shorter and an uneven gait. There's no reason to remove the buckshot, and all the healing is done and set. Carlos has adjusted and has maintained his great love and affection for people. He's just a great dog that enjoys being with his people and gives his complete loyalty and love. What more could you want in a friend for life? For more information about Carlos, please contact his foster at lostdogbarb@gmail.com.
To meet Carlos at an adoption event, please e-mail dogs@lostdogrescue.org or call (703)295-DOGS.

Color: Tricolor
Size: Approx. 55 lbs.
Status: Available
Good With Kids: Yes
Good With Cats: Not Yet Determined
Good With Dogs: Yes

Daniel Boone is easily recognizable as a hound. He looks like a hound. He certainly loves to snuffle along, and he's been known to take a long snooze. There is this other quality to Daniel Boone: He's a total cuddle pooch. Daniel Boone tries to creep into your lap; he nestles his soft snout under your chin; and he curls up next to you. All of this could happen in the first five minutes that you meet him, too! He's already housetrained and crate-trained as well. This buddy dog also rides well in a car and would love to go places with you. Daniel Boone, like his namesake, loves an outdoor adventure--exploring and discovering. In typical hound fashion, he thinks it's all just great fun and doesn't understand (yet) that he's supposed stay in his yard! Daniel Boone isn't one to wait for formalities, so he just makes himself at home right away. Sure, he's quick to jump on furniture and ask for a bite of your dinner, but he's just so cute when he does it. (That country boy charm works every time!) This playful dog loves his toys and likes to carry one around in his mouth as if to show off his prize. He also is the best with other dogs. Daniel Boone could be the friendliest, most fun dog you'll ever meet. Are you looking for a good-hearted, goofy guy like Daniel Boone?

Jacob

Sex: Male
Age: Approx. 8 years
Color: Black
Size: Approx. 45 lbs.
Status: AVAILABLE - Crosspost
Good With Kids: Older Children
Good With Cats: Not Yet Determined
Good With Dogs: Yes

Jacob is not an LDCRF dog. Please see the contact information below to find out more about adopting Jacob. You could say that Jacob started life as a tar heel since he found in a North Carolina parking lot. Things could have been bleak for him, but his life became brighter than a Carolina blue sky. A family took him in, and he grew into a cute, amazingly sweet boy. Jacob just loves to be with people and cuddle. He's an attentive, low-maintenance companion who gives many kisses and loves belly rubs. Jacob is completely housetrained and can be trusted to freely roam in the house. (He will go nicely in a crate and lie quietly, but he doesn't require crating at all.) Jacob is obedient and knows the commands of "sit" and "go on." "Go on" is verbal cue to him to stop whatever he's doing and, well, "go on." This goofy-happy dog is good on a leash and likes to go for nice walks. While he enjoys his walks, he's laid-back enough that he doesn't have to have one every day. Jacob also loves to play and is a good buddy for other dogs. He likes cats, too, and wants to play with them as well. Jacob has been with a loving family since that day he was found, but now he must find a new home without young children. He willingly and easily releases anything to adults, but he can be protective of his things with kids. (His new family should not include children younger than ten.) It could be that he's your perfect pet. Can Jacob find a home with you soon? For more information about Jacob, please contact shannon@neimandcollaborative.com.

Sex: Male
Age: Approx. 8 months
Color: White with black
Size: Approx. 45 lbs.
Status: Available
Good With Kids: No
Good With Cats: Not Yet Determined
Good With Dogs: Yes

Maybe it had to happen that a dog named after a NASCAR driver turned out to be deaf or nearly so. Our Jimmie Johnson might not ever hear the roar of an engine, but that's okay: He's really more interested in just joining your family. Jimmie is a friendly dog that focuses very well on people. He's young and energetic, so he does need exercise, playtime, and direction from you. Jimmie is a willing learner and ready to respond to proper training methods for a deaf dog, such as hand signals. He already knows that a thumbs up means "good boy" and an open palm means "stay." He's also already housetrained. Jimmie loves to be with his person and will follow you around. He especially loves to be snuggled and hugged. However, when Jimmie is awakened from a deep sleep, he startles and is initially very defensive. Because of this, his new home should not include any children or dominant dogs. With his loving heart and likable personality, Jimmie hopes he can find a home to have with you forever.
To meet Jimmie Johnson aka Reese at an adoption event, please e-mail dogs@lostdogrescue.org or call (703)295-DOGS.

You won't be able to resist calling him "Big John," you really won't. But you also won't be able to resist his soft ears or friendly leaning. This boy is big, no way around that, but he is calm and sweet and as friendly as they come. John likes the company of other dogs (he enjoys the dog park) and does very well with cats. In his foster home he frequently shares his space on the porch with resident cats and doesn't even chase them when they leap up to tackle imaginary mice. Big John came into rescue with a gunshot wound and was lucky to have survived the ordeal with only the loss of one toe. He says he has lots of others so he doesn't even miss it! He is currently in great health, fabulous spirits and ready to find his new home. Saving the best for last, this big hunk of love is also housetrained and crate trained. Of course, a loving family and cozy home is what he needs the most. Are you the one to let Kincaid enjoy life a great life forever?
